Mackenzie Staggs is an Alabama-based illustrator and designer with a passion for visual storytelling. Originally a classically trained oil painter, she brings traditional practices into a digital medium which brings a humanistic quality to her work. Her work is known for its bright colors and dynamic compositions and she always likes to create something unexpected.

She fell in love with art and design at a young age thanks to visual narrative. If she wasn't consuming stories through TV, movies, or books then she was creating her own. Her love for narrative is the reason she pivoted from fine art to illustration and design because no matter what she painted she always wanted to do one thing; she wanted to tell a story. 

Mackenzie earned her BFA in illustration at the Milwaukee Institute of Art & Design where she graduated with top honors. There she learned the ins and outs of the Adobe Creative Suite, and how to push her designs to new heights. Since graduating, Mackenzie has been working as a freelance illustrator and designer, and a screenprint artist. 

Her client list includes Penfield Children’s Hospital, Trek Bikes, Colectivo Coffee, Supper Heroes, Sewing Down South, Frito Lays, Jack Daniels, Milwaukee World Festival, and more. 

Mackenzie lives in Huntsville, Alabama with her fiance and two dogs.
